Join us on March 22nd for a half-day, interactive workshop geared for seasoned and emerging marketing leaders. The workshop will be presented by consultant and trainer, Lance Kessler, President of Lance Kessler & Associates, and a faculty member of the ABA’s School of Bank Marketing and Management and the Mass Bankers’ New England School for Financial Studies.  Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:00 am, and the workshop will start at 8:30 am and conclude at 12:30 pm. 

Workshop Description:  This workshop explores the role of marketing and how strategic leadership is essential to that role.  The participants identify the biggest challenges facing marketers when it comes to exerting the appropriate amount of influence and impact on the organization’s strategic direction.   Through interactive discussion and hands-on activities, participants will explore how they can become stronger leaders in their organizations and increase their influence.  During the workshop, participants will use a Marketing Leadership Canvas to determine how they should apply the key dimensions of effective marketing leadership and determine how they should spend their time and effort related to these dimensions.

Some of the areas that will be explored and discussed will include topics such as:

  • The role of marketing in your organization
  • The marketing leadership challenges facing bank marketer
  • Your leadership identity
  • The key dimensions of effective marketing leadership
  • How effective marketing leaders should spend their time and effort
  • What it takes to be a strong leader
  •  Improving marketing’s internal credibility

Workshop Objectives:  After successfully completing this workshop, participants will:

  • Gain clarity on what the role of marketing should be in their organization
  • Identify the marketing leadership challenges and how to overcome them
  • Describe his/her leadership identity as it relates to his/her bank and marketing team
  • Gain insight into the key dimensions of effective marketing leadership
  • Understand how they are spending their time and effort related to the key dimensions of effective marketing leadership
  • Determine how much time and effort bank marketers should be spending on key dimensions of effective marketing leadership
  • Determine how to improve marketing’s credibility inside the bank

About Our Speaker: Lance Kessler

Lance Kessler is the President of Lance Kessler & Associates, a marketing consulting and training firm. Before he started his own firm, he worked in the banking industry for 25 years. Mr. Kessler is on the faculty of the ABA’s School of Bank Marketing & Management, as well as the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He also serves on the board of the ABA School of Bank Marketing and the Graduate School of Banking’s Academic Committee. In addition, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the ABA’s Bank Marketing Association and a charter member of the ABA’s Certified Financial Marketing Professional Certification Advisory Board. 

Mr. Kessler is a frequent speaker on marketing, management and organizational development topics at industry conferences. He has also authored various articles published by Bank Marketing magazine, Journal of Retail Banking Services and paBanker Magazine. Mr. Kessler earned his BS in Psychology from York College, Masters Degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University, completed an Executive Program on Consumer Marketing Strategy at Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and is a graduate of ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Cancellation Policy:  All attendee cancellations must be in writing. Cancellations received by March 12, 2018 will be offered a refund less a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds after March 12, 2018.
